Prescription lenses for sunglasses you already own

Send us the model number off your frame and we glaze genuine prescription lenses into it — made by the brand that made your sunglasses, cut to your exact model, and dispensed by Benjamin Myers, a dispensing optician registered with the General Optical Council. Your frame does not need to have come from us, and it does not matter how old it is. If it is sound, it can be glazed.

Genuine Ray-Ban Authentic lenses, etched with the Ray-Ban logo. G-15, B-15, polarised, mirrored, gradient, clear and light-reactive. Single vision, spheres from −6.00 to +6.00 and cylinders to 4.00.

Oakley prescription lenses — from £229

Genuine Oakley Authentic Prescription lenses in Plutonite, laser-etched with the Oakley O. Prizm, polarised, clear and Transitions. Single vision, cylinders to 3.00 on a two-lens frame. One-piece shields such as Radar EV Path and Jawbreaker take a prescription insert that clips in behind the shield, from £229.

How it works

1. Tell us your frame. The model number and size are printed inside one of the arms. Type either into the frame box and your model comes up.
2. Choose your lens. You are only shown lenses that can actually be made for your frame in your prescription, so anything you can select, we can make.
3. Give us your prescription. Enter it at the order, or choose to send it on later and we will email you for it. It needs to be less than two years old.
4. We check it before anything is ordered. Every prescription is checked against your frame by a registered dispensing optician. If it cannot be made, we tell you and refund in full.

Fitting

Fit the lenses into your frame yourself and there is nothing more to pay. Metal-rimmed frames open with a small screw; acetate and plastic frames need warming first so the lens can go in. If you would rather we did it, fitting is £10 and includes a Royal Mail label to send the frame in on.

How long it takes

Seven to ten days from the day the job is placed, which is as soon as your prescription checks out. If you are sending the frame in for fitting, that clock starts when it reaches us.

What we do and do not make

Single vision, in every lens colour shown for your frame. Ray-Ban and Oakley both make varifocals and we will be offering them, but we only supply single vision at the moment — email us if you need a varifocal and we will quote you directly. Neither brand makes bifocals for sun frames.

Lenses made to your prescription cannot be resold, so they sit outside the change-of-mind return. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act are unaffected, and if a job cannot be made, you are refunded in full.
