Most things that go wrong on a Lindberg are small. A nose pad goes hard, a temple tip splits, an arm needs bringing back into line. Ten-minute jobs.
The bridge is the one that is not. On a Lindberg Spirit Titanium frame — most people just call it a Spirit — there is no rim holding the lenses. The bridge clips onto the edge of each lens and holds the two together. That is what makes the frame so light, and it is also why a bridge that has been sat on, stepped on or bent back into shape one time too many cannot really be repaired. Once it has gone past the point where the titanium comes back true, it is a part to be replaced.
The good news is that it is a genuine Lindberg part, it can be ordered to match your frame exactly, and you do not need to buy new glasses.
Signs your Spirit bridge needs replacing
- One lens sits higher than the other, however many times the frame is adjusted.
- The glasses no longer sit straight on your face, and the lean comes from the middle rather than an arm.
- A lens moves or rocks in the clip at the bridge.
- The bridge is visibly kinked, cracked or snapped.
If you are not sure whether it is the bridge or something that can be adjusted, send us a photo of the frame from the front. We would rather tell you it is a straightening job than sell you a part you do not need.
What you need to know to order one
Lindberg makes the Spirit bridge in more combinations than most people expect, and a bridge is only right if all four of these match your frame. They are the same four choices Lindberg asks for when a bridge is ordered.
1. Design
Look at your frame from the front. The bridge is the piece that crosses your nose, and it comes in three shapes:
- Round — a smooth arch with a clip at each end.
- Flat — a straight top bar with a clip at each end.
- Round half eye wire — an arch that joins a fine wire running along the top edge of each lens. If your frame has that wire across the lens tops, this is yours.
2. Clip length
The clip is what grips the lens, so it has to suit how thick your lens is at the edge where the bridge attaches. Measure it there, not at the centre of the lens — prescription lenses can be much thicker or thinner at the edge.
- Lens edge 2.1 to 3.5 mm: the 3.5 mm clip.
- Lens edge 3.6 to 5.5 mm: the 5.5 mm clip.
This one matters. A clip that is too short will not grip a thick lens, and one that is too long leaves the lens loose. If you cannot measure it, have us fit the bridge and we will measure the lens when your frame arrives.
3. Size
Lindberg sizes the bridge by the gap between the two lenses. You will usually find the frame size printed on the inside of an arm, and it reads something like 52□M or 52□20. The letter or number after the box is your bridge size.
- S — about 18 mm
- M — about 20 mm
- L — about 22 mm
- XL — about 24 mm
Worn off, or never there? Measure the gap between the lenses at the bridge and pick the nearest. If you land between two, email us a photo with a ruler beside the frame and we will confirm it.
4. Colour
Every Spirit colour comes in two finishes, polished or silk matt, which gives 36 in all. Your colour code is printed on the inside of the temple arm.
The code tells you the finish too. Polished codes start with a P: P10 is polished silver, PGT is polished gold. Silk matt codes are the code on its own: 10 is matt silver, GT is matt gold. The colours are 10, 20, 25, 30, 35, 60, 70, 75, 77, 80, 85, 90, 95, GT, U9, U12, U13 and U16, each with or without the P.
On our Lindberg Spirit bridge page you can pick the finish, then tap your colour from Lindberg's own swatches, and the code goes into your order for you. Every Lindberg finish is made by hand, so treat the colours on screen as a guide and go by the code on the arm where you can.

Fit it yourself. We post the bridge to you and it clips onto the edge of each lens.
Or let us fit it, for £110. We email you a prepaid Royal Mail label, you post the frame to our Southport workshop, and we fit the bridge, check the alignment and post the frame back. If you are unsure about the clip length, or the frame has had a knock and may need more than a bridge, this is the safer choice, because we measure the lens and check the whole frame before fitting anything.
